Claudia Marques is Founding Partner at MPA with vast experience in matters related to international trade and customs. Under her leadership, MPA has become a reference in trade-related practice areas, such as antidumping, countervailing duties and safeguards investigations in Brazil and abroad.

Ms. Marques’ expertise also includes sharp legal advice on tariff classification, preferential trade agreements, permanent and temporary tariff modification, import licensing, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and technical barriers to trade.

Recognized by clients as a reference in Brazil and abroad, Ms. Marques has previous experience as a litigation lawyer dealing with cases in the civil and commercial areas for several years, where she gained valuable experience handling a wide variety of disputes and negotiations. Ms. Marques is known by her persistence and skillful leadership on complex matters.

Ms. Marques’ clients include domestic producers, exporters, and importers in the industrial and agribusiness sectors in Brazil, America, Europe and Asia.

Ms. Marques holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in law from the School of Law of Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute. She is the coordinator of the International Trade Committee of the Brazilian Institute of Competition, Consumption and International Trade Studies (IBRAC) and invests in its purpose of training people and promoting the legal practice of foreign trade.

Ms. Marques worked in Washington, DC at a leading United States-based law firm and concluded a practical training at the Brazilian Mission to the WTO, in Geneva, Switzerland.
